Sankofa Trading

A 5 section, 12 module course, providing a holistic view of financial assets & financial markets, diving into the fundamentals of foreign exchange trading to promote active participation in the foreign exchange market.

Mindset and Successful habits

Participants will be introduced to the Sankofa Mindset, which they will need to adapt in order to get the best out of the learning environment. We will be introducing all students to key market leaders and literature which will help them to cultivate a mindset of success and leadership.

Financial Assets

Participants will be introduced to the 4 main type of financial assets in modern economies. Then taught how they relate to the more complex financial assets such as derivatives, calls, put, and so on. All participants will then be challenged to identify which financial assets are most prevalent in Ghana.

Financial Markets

Members will then be introduced to the financial markets and their roles. In addition these markets will be broken down into capital markets, money markets, Primary vs secondary markets. Members will also be assigned a dummy trading account.

What is Forex

Participants will be introduced to foreign exchange -  and the concept of trading currency in the same fashion as trading financial securities. Participants will also be challenged to accumulate the highest balance on their dummy reading accounts.

Risk

Participants will be introduced to the concept of market risk and how it relates to investment; they will also be shown the macroeconomic forces which can cause changes in market interest rates.

Trading Forex and Crypto

Participants will be assessed on their understanding of trading forex and the trades which they have made via their dummy trading accounts.

Orders & Execution

Participants will be taught how to understand the concept of execution order and how they become filled.

Spread Betting

Participants will be introduced to the derivative strategies in which investors do not own the underlying asset or commodity. Participants will then be challenged to understand which Ghanaian/African derivatives are most profitable and available to them via the GSE.

Fundamental Analysis

Participants will be introduced to the concept of measuring a security’s intrinsic value by examining related economic and financial factors. Participants will fully understand macroeconomic factors such as the state of the economy and industry conditions to microeconomic factors like the effectiveness of the company's management.

Sentimental Analysis

This module involves taking up positions in markets driven by momentum i.e using recent market performance to gauge how other traders feel. Participants will be introduced to the bull vs bear trading concepts.

Technical Analysis

Participants will be introduced to the range of techniques used to forecast future price movements of financial products based on historical price movements and patterns.

Basic Tools + Recap

Participants will be introduced to the basic tools used in financial analysis such as, Average Analysis, Statement of Changes in Working Capital, Fund Flow Analysis ect. In addition, participants will have a recap of all material which has been learned. Successful students will then be reminded of the Sankofa mission - To increase and encourage independent financial knowledge and domestic investment.
